Gladys' 90th Birthday

On Saturday, Engine 5, Tower 5, Chief 51, and Chief 53 responded to an AFAA at Lions Club on Airport Rd. Crews investigated and found that the alarm was activated by a patron celebrating her 90th birthday, by blowing out 90 candles. Once crews confirmed that no hazard existed, they made sure to assist in making the birthday a memorable one!

Spreading Holiday Cheer

In the spirit of giving back to our community, OC Firefighter Ryan Whittington has decided to spread some holiday cheer by adopting seniors at the Berlin Nursing Home. The Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company is supporting the holiday cheer and donations can be dropped off at Ocean City Fire HQ on 15th Street or via gofundme.

Fire at OC Elementary

Just before noon, Ocean City Fire Department was dispatched to Ocean City Elementary School for a reported building fire. Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Aperance arrived on scene and confirmed smoke coming from the roof and requested additional units to assist from various Worcester County fire departments. Crews quickly extinguished a fire located in a portion of the roof. All students and staff were safely evacuated. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office.
