OCFD would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Beach Patrol Lieutenant Ward Kovacs, and Probationary Firefighter David Lurie, who celebrated birthdays last week.
We would also like to wish a Happy Birthday to Gold Badge Member Charles Bunting, Board of Directors Jerry Priestly and John McAllister, and Cadet Firefighter Tristan Jager, who are celebrating birthdays this week.

AS OF TODAY, THERE HAVE BEEN SIX FIRE FATALITIES ACROSS THE STATE. The MAJORITY of those fatalities DID NOT HAVE WORKING SMOKE ALARMS in their homes. If you cannot afford a smoke alarm PLEASE contact your local fire department to inquire as to what assistance is available in your area.
Gladys' 90th Birthday

On Saturday, Engine 5, Tower 5, Chief 51, and Chief 53 responded to an AFAA at Lions Club on Airport Rd.
Crews investigated and found that the alarm was activated by a patron celebrating her 90th birthday, by blowing out 90 candles.
Once crews confirmed that no hazard existed, they made sure to assist in making the birthday a memorable one!
