Crews Handle Overturned Boat at the Inlet

Firefighters were alerted to a watercraft emergency in the area of the Route 50 bridge after a pontoon boat flipped, sending its occupants overboard. As fire department units were arriving on scene, it was reported 15 victims were in the water with an unknown extent of injuries. All 15 occupants were successfully removed from the water by the Coast Guard and personal watercrafts in the area. Fire and EMS crews staging at the Coast Guard Station provided patient care for any injuries as the victims arrived. The scene was placed under control and turned over to the Coast Guard.
