Engine 1 and Tower 1 Respond to Oven Fire
On Sunday, Ocean City Fire Department was alerted to a Fire Alarm Activation in a commercial building on 28th Street. Prior to responding, the nature of the call changed to an investigation of fire - reported to be out. Engine 1 arrived with nothing evident and wrapped the hydrant, laying 200 ft of 5” in the street. Lt. Alan Jarmon assumed command.
Upon investigation, a light smoke condition was found in the building. Further investigation found a fire still burning in the oven with smoke conditions worsening. Command requested a hand line stretched to the front door. The fire was quickly knocked and overhaul began. Tower 1 was requested non-emergency for smoke removal.
The Fire Marshal's Office and the Health Department were contacted. The business was turned over to the owners and remained closed.
