The ceremony was part of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s 2016 National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend. Mrs. Cropper is the widow of Leroy J. Cropper, Jr., a Gold Badge Life Member of the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company, who died in the line of duty on 28 April 1995. The mission of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation is to honor and remember America’s fallen fire heroes, to provide resources to assist their survivors in rebuilding their lives, and work within the fire service community to reduce firefighter deaths and injuries.
