9/11 10th Anniversary Observation - Ocean City/West Ocean City

Friday, October 30, 2015
The Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company would like to announce its plans to observe the Tenth Anniversary of the Terrorist Attacks of 9/11/2001. We will be starting our observation at the Firefighters Memorial on the Boardwalk and North Division Street at 9:59 AM Sunday morning. That is the time of the collapse of the South Tower and the subsequent death of the first firefighter, Father Mychal Judge, the Chaplain of the FDNY. After comments and reflection, a procession of fire apparatus will lead us to Firehouse #5 on Keyser Point Road in West Ocean City. There, the newly rebuilt facility will be dedicated to the community it serves. Again, after comment and reflection, a catered lunch will be provided as the firehouse will be open for the public to tour and enjoy. For those desiring to avoid the inevitable parking issues downtown, a shuttle bus will be leaving the parking lot of Ocean City Elementary School at 9:30 AM for the memorial. It will then follow the apparatus procession to the West Ocean City facility, and then back to the school. Transportation to and from the school and Firehouse #5 will continue throughout the day. Looking forward to seeing the community on Sunday September 11th.
