The 2011 National EMS Week (May 15-21) presents an opportunity to honor the men and women who deliver pre-hospital emergency medical care throughout the United States. EMS Week brings together local communities and medical personnel to publicize safety and honor the dedication of those who provide day-to-day lifesaving services. “Ocean City Firefighter/EMTs and Paramedics respond quickly, professionally and compassionately to serve the residents and visitors of Ocean City and they do it everyday…24/7,” said Ocean City Fire Department Assistant Chief Chris Shaffer. This year’s theme for EMS Week is: Everyday Heroes. “I am proud of the men and women of the Ocean City Fire Department who everyday make a difference- making them ‘Everyday Heroes,’” Shaffer said. “I cannot think of a better reason to thank them.”
