OC Dive Team Requested to Assist Millville - Quillen's Point, Ocean View

On Monday, October 27, 2008 at 0813 hours, Sussex County EOC alerted Station 84 (Millville, DE) for a reported water rescue at Quillen’s Point, just off of Cedar Neck Road. The water rescue was dispatched as a Priority 1, bringing in Selbyville (Station 88) and Ocean City Fire Department’s Dive Team along with Sussex County EMS, Delaware Trooper 2, and DNREC.
84 Command responded with Lieutenant Doug Scott. Once on scene command confirmed a vehicle of some type was in the water. It was unsure if any victims were in the water. Marine 84 was launched and began a search of the area along with Trooper 2 from the air.
Command appointed various positions including safety officer, public information officer, and dive operations.
Once enough divers were on scene, Dive Operations began to search the vehicle for possible patients. Once divers confirmed no patients in or near the vehicle, the tow company began removal of the vehicle from the water.
Units were placed available at 0911 hours.
Units responding: Command 84, Rescue 84, Marine 84, A-84, Engine 84-1, Utility 84-11, Rescue 88, Dive Unit 88, Utility 88-12, Ocean City Rescue 18, Ocean City Paramedic 1-1, OC Utility, EMS 100, Medic 105, Trooper 2, United States Coast Guard, DSP, DNREC, and Fire Police.
