FF Udzielak Successfully Completes MFRI Firefighter Survival & Rescue Program

The Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company is proud to announce that Firefighter Tyler Udzielak has successfully completed the Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute’s Firefighter Survival & Rescue Course.
The program was begun at MFRI’s North East Regional Training Center in Gunpowder MD on 3 June 2023 and entailed 18 hours of classroom and practical instruction.
This program is MFRI’s comprehensive course aimed at providing firefighters with the necessary skills and knowledge to rescue themselves and their fellow firefighters and covers a multitude of topics including (but not limited to) firefighter safety, regulations and standards; survival and rescue mindset; rapid intervention teams; 2-in/2-out; drags and carries; ladder usage; self-rescue; wall breach; disentanglement; and large-area search. Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, and team-focused practical exercises.
