West Ocean City House Fire - Keyser Point Road and Center Drive
Friday, October 30, 2015
The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire located near the intersection of Keyser Point Road and Center Drive in Ocean City, Maryland. The dwelling involved in the fire had not been occupied for several years. Access to the dwelling by the fire department was difficult because of its distance from the roadway and the narrow driveway with low and years of overgrown brush. First arriving fire units from Ocean City reported the 2 ½ Story Dwelling well involved with fire spreading into the nearby woods. The Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company was assisted by the Ocean Pines, Berlin, Showell and Bishopville Volunteer Fire Companies from Maryland and numerous Volunteer Fire Companies from Sussex County provided manpower to the scene. The fire was quickly brought under control. Three firefighters suffered minor injuries. An excavator was utilized to raze the building due to structural instability. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office at 410-632-5666 or via their website at http://www.wcfmo.org.
