Commercial Structure Fire - 8428 Stephen Decatur Highway

The Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company responded to a fire which destroyed the Camp Store at Frontier Town Campground (8428 Stephen Decatur Highway, Berlin, Maryland). The fire occurred on Thursday, August 15, 2002 at 2:25 p.m. The store was occupied at the time of the fire and everyone escaped uninjured. Firefighters from Berlin and Ocean City Volunteer Fire Departments responded and quickly extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported. The store suffered heavy interior damage destroying the store’s inventory. Although exteriorly damage appears minimal, heavy fire damage was evident to the structural components of the building and roof assembly. The fire loss is estimated at over $100,000. The cause of the fire is listed as incendiary or arson.
