Meet our Summer Interns

Wednesday, July 3, 2019
This past Fall, the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company created a Summer Internship Program seeking fire technology students looking to pursue a career within Fire Service Administration. The internship program was designed to be an opportunity for college students to work with Ocean City’s Volunteer and Career command staff on assignments that are project-driven and apply to their field of study.

The Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company selected two candidates for the 2019 Fire Service Administration Summer Internship Program: Jack Turner and Zachary Basar. Jack and Zach are both seniors studying Fire Protection Administration at Eastern Kentucky University.

Jack and Zach have been tasked with Pre-Incident Planning, ISO review, as well as Department SOP and SOG revisions. In addition to their Internship requirements, they also participate in the Departments Live-In Program, assigned to Fire Headquarters. The program runs from late May to mid-August to accommodate their degree’s co-op requirements. Since the programs start, they have hit the ground running, completing data collection for roughly 20 High-Rise Building Pre-plans in their first week alone! We are very excited to see what the next three months hold for our new interns and will be happy to report on their accomplishments at the end of the Summer.
