Ride Along / Observer Program

Firefighter Ride Along Program:

 

The Volunteer Fire Company has a Ride Along program for eligible firefighters staying or visiting the Ocean City area.  In order to ride along, you must be 18 years of age or older and have proof of training or qualification equivalent to the Maryland Fire I Certification.  Firefighters participating in the Ride Along ride out of Headquarters and perform Exterior Firefighting Operations only. 

 

EMS Observer Rider Program:

 

The Career Fire-EMS Division offers an EMS Observer Rider program.  In order to ride along, you must be 16 years of age or older.  Anyone under the age of 18 must have parental consent.  Those participating in the EMS Observer Program ride out of Headquarters and must wear long pants, closed toe shoes, and a professional shirt.  Riders are there for observation only.

Firefighter Ride-Along FAQs:

- Do I need to bring my turnout gear with me?

Yes. You will need to be in full turnout gear during incidents. Don't forget to ask permission from your home company's chief officer(s) to bring your gear with you.

 

- Do I need to bring bedding if I am staying overnight?

Yes. If available an officer will assign you a bunk for the night.
