Marvin Timmons

Marvin Ivan Timmons, 78, died Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Atlantic General Hospital. Born in Parkertown, near Berlin, he was a son of the late Horace Albert Timmons and Julie Ann Freeman Timmons. 

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Norma Jean Marshall Timmons. Also surviving is a son, Marvin Wayne Timmons Sr. and his wife, Diane, of Ocean City; and a daughter, Beverly Ann Timmons of Ocean City. There are two grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Timmons Fraley of Arkansas and Marvin Wayne Timmons Jr. of Ocean City; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Shea Fraley and Kaylee Mae Fraley; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves a brother, Elmore Timmons and his wife, Virginia, of Parsonsburg.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Chester, George, Preston and Calvin Timmons; and a sister, Dorothy Timmons Banks. 

Mr. Timmons worked for Golden Pride/Perdue for 26 years. Later, he worked for the town of Ocean City Public Works Department. He was a 34-plus-year Gold Badge member of the Ocean City Volunteer Fire Company and a member of Atlantic United Methodist Church and also attended Bethany United Methodist Church.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed raising flowers.
